LEGO 71006 The Simpsons House Officially Announced

LEGO 71006 The Simpsons House 1

Okay, so I’m a little late on this one but here goes. LEGO and 20th Century Fox have officially announced a partnership to produce LEGO The Simpsons sets and minifigures. In addition, Fox will air a special LEGO episode of The Simpsons in May 2014 that will feature the cast of characters from the iconic TV series in LEGO form. A separate line of 16 Simpsons-themed minifigures will also be released in all major toy stores in May 2014.

At the same time as announcing the deal to produce LEGO Simpsons products, LEGO also announced the first set of the theme (71006 The Simpsons House), which will be released on 1 February 2014 in LEGO Brand Stores and at the LEGO.com Shop. The set contains a whopping 2523 pieces, 6 minifigures (Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie and neighbour Ned Flanders) and will retail for US$199.

Lift off the top floor to reveal the fully-fitted kitchen with dining table, chairs, yellow and light-blue tiled floor and lots of pots, pans and other accessories. I’m not really that much of a Simpsons fan (to be honest, I haven’t really even watched much of the episodes) and, when it was first rumoured that there would be a LEGO Simpsons theme way back in August last year, I wasn’t that excited to see what the sets and minifigures would look like.

But now I’m actually beginning to like the theme. LEGO 71006 The Simpsons House set is way better and has more playability than any LEGO Creator house ever could and I think LEGO thought right to make special moulds for the heads. Now I’m looking forward to the reveal of the series of minifigures and other Simpsons sets.

LEGO CUUSOO The Adventure Time Project Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The Adventure Time Project by jazlecraz

LEGO CUUSOO The Adventure Time Project project by jazlecraz on the LEGO CUUSOO website has reached the 10,000 supporter milestone a few days ago and will be entered into the Winter 2013 review and could become an official LEGO set. Jazlecraz uploaded it to the site on the 15th of April this year and it has slowly gained supporters until reaching the 10,000 supporter milestone a few days ago.

If you haven’t heard of it, Adventure Time is an animated cartoon TV series that takes you through the lives of Finn and Jake. The show is mainly geared towards children and airs on Cartoon Network.

Read the official comment from LEGO after the project had reached 10,000 supporters below:

Mathematical! You’ve reached 10,000 supporters!

What time is it? Adventure time!

The candy people have united to show their support for this project and we hear you loud and clear throughout the Land of Ooo.

Our team is looking forward to evaluating this project as a potential LEGO set.

What happens now?

This project moves from the Idea stage to the Review stage. A “LEGO Review Board” composed of designers, product managers, and other key team members will examine the idea. We’ll build concept models and determine if the concept meets our high standards for what it takes to be a LEGO product, including playability, safety, and fit with the LEGO brand. Every LEGO product goes through a process like this and must meet the same standards.

Timing of the LEGO Review

This project qualifies for the quarterly review beginning in January, which will also include all projects that reach 10,000 between now and January 6. For more information about the quarterly review process, see this Knowledge Base article.

The review is a thorough process and from its start, and can take several months. When finished, we make a “go/no go” decision to develop and sell a product based on the Adventure Time Project.

When the review is complete, we will inform you of our decision. If green-lit, this project goes into the longest phase of the project; the Development phase. During this time, LEGO model designers refine the product and develop it for release, we create the product materials (box, instructions, marketing), and get everything ready for a production run. This also takes several months.

We will post follow-up information and our decision here.
The LEGO CUUSOO Team

This CUUSOO project is the third to reach 10,000 votes after the last review cutoff and will be included in the next LEGO jury review. The LEGO Bird Project by DeTomaso is the most supported project on LEGO CUUSOO now. Congratulations to jazlecraz for this great achievement and with the review process ahead.
