LEGO 71006 The Simpsons House Officially Announced

LEGO 71006 The Simpsons House 1

Okay, so I’m a little late on this one but here goes. LEGO and 20th Century Fox have officially announced a partnership to produce LEGO The Simpsons sets and minifigures. In addition, Fox will air a special LEGO episode of The Simpsons in May 2014 that will feature the cast of characters from the iconic TV series in LEGO form. A separate line of 16 Simpsons-themed minifigures will also be released in all major toy stores in May 2014.

At the same time as announcing the deal to produce LEGO Simpsons products, LEGO also announced the first set of the theme (71006 The Simpsons House), which will be released on 1 February 2014 in LEGO Brand Stores and at the LEGO.com Shop. The set contains a whopping 2523 pieces, 6 minifigures (Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie and neighbour Ned Flanders) and will retail for US$199.

The house model itself is hinged on one side so that you can open it up and recreate scenes from the long-running Simpsons TV show. It contains eight rooms (living room, kitchen, den, Homer and Marge’s room, Bart’s room, Lisa’s room, Maggie’s room and a hallway).

I’m not really that much of a Simpsons fan (to be honest, I haven’t really even watched much of the episodes) and, when it was first rumoured that there would be a LEGO Simpsons theme way back in August last year, I wasn’t that excited to see what the sets and minifigures would look like.

But now I’m actually beginning to like the theme. LEGO 71006 The Simpsons House set is way better and has more playability than any LEGO Creator house ever could and I think LEGO thought right to make special moulds for the heads. Now I’m looking forward to the reveal of the series of minifigures and other Simpsons sets.

Poll Results: October 2013

So! As we start the month of November, we now take a look at the poll results of last month’s BrickExtra poll. We asked readers what is their favourite LEGO theme created in 2013 and we got a total of 28 votes.

From now on, there will be no monthly poll on BrickExtra, as the polls have not brought in enough votes and attention as they used to when it was first started.

We will no longer be posting polls or results articles here as it took too much time and effort on my part for the amount of people who were actually voting. Thank you to everyone who voted in the many monthly polls, but now the new LEGO mini build instructions archive has already replaced this section. You can see the poll results of October’s poll (the last poll) below:

Thanks again to all the people who voted in all of the past polls! 😉
