LEGO CUUSOO LEGO Bird Project Achieves 10,000 Supporters

LEGO CUUSOO LEGO Bird Project 1

The LEGO CUUSOO LEGO Bird Project project by DeTomaso (Thomas Poulsom) on the LEGO CUUSOO website reached the 10,000 supporter milestone a few days ago and is the first CUUSOO project to be entered into the Second 2014 review (the CUUSOO team has changed to a new tri-annual review schedule).

Thomas uploaded the idea to the site on the 14th of May 2012  and it has slowly gained supporters until reaching the 10,000 supporter milestone a few days ago.

Congratulations on 10,000 supporters, DeTomaso!

2014.01.17

Congratulations on reaching 10,000 supporters for the LEGO Bird Project. It’s been quite the journey, are your arms wings tired yet?

Thanks for focusing your project on just a few of your iconic bird designs, to fit within what we’re able to produce as a single LEGO set. We’ll evaluate your models as you have prioritized them, and see what might be possible.

We now officially advance this project to the Review phase.

What happens now?

This project moves from the Idea stage to the Review stage. A “LEGO Review Board” composed of designers, product managers, and other key team members will examine the idea. We’ll build concept models and determine if the concept meets our high standards for what it takes to be a LEGO product. This includes factors such as playability, safety, and fit with the LEGO brand. Every potential LEGO product goes through a process like this and must meet the same standards.

The LEGO Review Begins in May

This project qualifies for the Second 2014 Review beginning in May and ending in September. For more information about the LEGO review process, see this knowledge base article.

The review is a thorough process and from its start, and can take several months. When finished, we make a “go/no go” decision to develop and sell a product based on the LEGO Bird Project concept.

When the review is complete, we will inform you of our decision. If green-lit, this project goes into the longest phase of the project; the Development phase. During this time, LEGO model designers refine the product and develop it for release, we create the product materials (box, instructions, marketing), and get everything ready for a production run. This also takes several months.

We will post follow-up information and our decision here.

The LEGO CUUSOO Team

When I first heard about CUUSOO two years ago, the first project that really caught my eye was the LEGO Bird Project and since then, I would check up on it’s CUUSOO page every so often, just to see whether DeTomaso’s birds had reached 10,000 supporters.

The creator did have to scale down the project slightly after the CUUSOO team changed the terms of service and narrowed the number of birds down to three of the best: Bobby The Robin Red BreastBradley the Blue Jay and Victor The Violet-eared Hummingbird.

The Modular Apple Store by gotoandbuild is now the most supported project on LEGO CUUSOO. Congratulations to DeTomaso for this great achievement and with the review process ahead.

LEGO Simpsons Collectable Minifigures and TV Special

Nerdly.co.uk, a website based in the United Kingdom, claims to have the inside scoop on the happens for the upcoming LEGO Simpsons line. They have confirmed rumours that the upcoming Series 13 of Collectable Minifigures will be based off characters from The Simpsons and will include 16 different minifigures as per normal for the CMF line. Several iconic Simpsons characters such as Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Apu, Chief Wiggum, Moe, Itchy and Scratchy and many more from the long-running TV show will be including in Series 13 apparently. Series 13 is scheduled to come out into stores in May 2014.

LEGO Simpsons

Nerdly goes on to say that the LEGO Simpsons theme will only have one set to be released in the first quarter of 2014 and that will be the Simpsons House which, according to them, will be released in April of next year only at LEGO brand stores and the LEGO.com Shop. Previously, it was thought that this new line would several sets in it’s first wave, but it seems as though that won’t be happening.

A new LEGO Simpsons television special will air in May 2014 as well, which will probably be much like the Star Wars and Legends of Chima 30-minute TV specials of the past. The director of the immensely popular TV show, David Silverman, has also confirmed the news via Twitter (the tweet looks to have been removed though):

Okay, NOW I can tweet about the upcoming Simpsons Lego Show! http://t.co/mDiVO04tC1
