The LEGO CUUSOO Japanese Old Style Architecture project by Taxon55 on the LEGO CUUSOO website has reached the 10,000 supporter milestone a couple of days ago and will be entered into the Winter 2013 review and could become an official LEGO set. Taxon55 uploaded it to the site on July 13th 2011 and it has gained supporters slowly but surely until reaching the 10,000 supporter milestone a few days ago.
Another project, Legend of Zelda: Iron Knuckle Encounter by WesTalbott (which we didn’t write an article on), reached 10,000 supporters just over a week ago. You can see LEGO’s official comment on that idea here.
Read the official comment from LEGO after the project had reached 10,000 supporters below:
Congratulations on 10,000 supporters, taxon55!
2013.11.12
Congratulations on this achievement, to both taxon55 and to all supporters of this excellent LEGO® CUUSOO project.
As we’ve said before, this is a very well designed project that captures the essence of these traditional Japanese buildings. The models really make you feel like you’re there! We look forward to considering your project in the LEGO Review.
What happens now?
This project moves from the Idea stage to the Review stage. A “LEGO Review Board” composed of designers, product managers, and other key team members will examine the idea. We’ll build concept models and determine if the concept meets our high standards for what it takes to be a LEGO product, including playability, safety, and fit with the LEGO brand. Every LEGO product goes through a process like this and must meet the same standards.
Timing of the LEGO Review
This project qualifies for the quarterly review beginning in January, which will also include all projects that reach 10,000 between now and January 6. For more information about the quarterly review process, see this Knowledge Base article.
The review is a thorough process and from its start, and can take several months. When finished, we make a “go/no go” decision to develop and sell a product based on the Japanese Old Style Architecture concept.
When the review is complete, we will inform you of our decision. If green-lit, this project goes into the longest phase of the project; the Development phase. During this time, LEGO model designers refine the product and develop it for release, we create the product materials (box, instructions, marketing), and get everything ready for a production run. This also takes several months.
We will post follow-up information and our decision here.
The LEGO CUUSOO Team
This CUUSOO project is the second to reach 10,000 votes after the last review cutoff and will be included in the next LEGO jury review. The Adventure Time by jazlecraz is the most supported project on LEGO CUUSOO now. Congratulations to Taxon55 for this great achievement and with the review process ahead.
