With me being on holiday earlier in December and the busy Christmas season finally calming down, here is a round-up of all the news related to The LEGO Movie and the video game that goes along with it. Quite a bit has happened since we last posted about The LEGO Movie and you can read it all for yourself below. 🙂
VGX 2013 Video Game Announcement Trailer
While I was away on holiday, VGX 2013 (the video game awards show) was held and, while neither Warner Brothers or LEGO were there, they still released an announcement trailer on YouTube for The LEGO Movie video game that shows scenes from The LEGO Movie as well as footage from the game itself. The video game will include more than 90 playable characters from the movie and 15 levels to play through.
EB Games Pre-Order Bonus
In other LEGO Movie-related news, Brick Fanatics have uncovered the first (in what probably will be many) pre-order bonuses for the upcoming video game. EB Games, a video game retailer in Australia and New Zealand, are offering a free Old Wild West Emmet minifigure if you pre-order any version of the game from them.
The LEGO Movie Toys coming to Happy Meals
After rumours began circling a week before, Brickset forum member princedraven took a picture of a child’s McDonalds Happy Meal box, which states that some LEGO Movie-themed goodies will come with Happy Meals sometime in the future. Brick Fanatics have calculated that the promotion is likely to start on either the 22nd or the 29th of January 2014.
The LEGO Movie Video Game Special Edition
Brick Fanatics is reporting that a UK retailer by the name of GAME.co.uk will be exclusively selling a The LEGO Movie Video Game Special Edition in their stores and online. The “Wild West” pack includes a selection of pants and 4 new playable characters. The downloadable pants are the following:
- The Tornado Pants – lets you spin around and attract more studs.
- The Prospector Pants – allows you to spawn more high-value studs
- The Hot Pants – gets you all fired up
- The Jack Rabbit Pants – allows you to jump higher
The new playable characters in the pack are Old Ollie, Wild Will, Sudds Backwash and Rootbeer Belle. This particular version of the game will only be available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Pre-order the game now by clicking here.
That appears to be it for The LEGO Movie news and announcements at the moment, but you can be sure that they’ll be more news in the future. The LEGO Movie and video game will be released on the same day (14th February 2014) and the game will be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, PS Vita and PC systems.
