The Lord of the Rings is a licensed theme that was released in May 2012. It is based on the movies by Peter Jackson, which are in turn based on the books (The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King) of the same name by J.R.R. Tolkien. LEGO LOTR has so far released two waves of sets with a video game that came out in November 2012.

SDCC 2013: LEGO Hobbit Lake Town Chase Set & Azog Figure

LEGO has finally unveiled the last set at the 2013 San Diego Comic Con (SDCC for short). The Lake Town Chase set is supposedly based off the lake town scene in the upcoming second The Hobbit movie, The Desolation of Smaug.

LEGO Hobbit Lake Town Chase 1The LEGO Hobbit Lake Town Chase set itself is due out in stores in December 2013 and might be a specific store or LEGO.com Shop exclusive set or maybe even limited edition. 5 minifigures are included in the set, along with 334 pieces and a retail price of US$49.99. We don’t have much more information than that, not even a product description yet – so we don’t exactly know who the minifigures are but we can guess. The minifigures look like Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakensheild, The Master of the Lake Town and two Fisherman. This is just a pure guess from my Hobbit and LOTR knowledge.

In other LEGO Hobbit related news, FBTB is reporting that a LEGO Hobbit Azog minifigure was being given out randomly to some attendees of the event but not specifically at the LEGO booth (#2829).
